Yikes

I have been completely neglecting my blog. Luckily, now that summer is here I am hoping I can get back into the swing of things and actually participate in my blog, imagine that!

I decided to move schools after being at my current elementary school for the past 5 years. It was such a hard decision, but I felt like it was time for a change. I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but I feel like the people that I worked with were like my second family. Especially, the fact that this is the only school I have ever known and started my career with, I was a little heartbroken on Friday when I left. I looked a little like this ALL day on Friday!

But now that the move is done and over, I am excited for my new school and position. I am now going to be teaching 6th grade and it is not certain yet, but probably teaching language arts and social studies. WHAT???! I know, I love math and it feels so weird not teaching it, but I think the change will be good and it will be a good challenge for me.

I don't want to get too involved with planning just in case I end up teaching underwater basket weaving and science, so I am still kind of awaiting the final word before I dive head first into the curriculum and start creating things.

I am definitely going to need some help when the time comes so I help my fellow bloggers are up for the challenge! I know of a few 6th grade blogs, but not many. If you are one or know of one, give me a shout out.

P.S. I love summer time.

  1. This past year I taught 6th grade spelling and English while the 6th grade teacher took my students (4th grade) for math.

I really enjoyed the 6th graders. They're much more mature than my 4th graders...and they taught me a lot about what's going on in the world...6th grade music, fads, etc.

    Good Luck
