Paper Flowers Craft Part 2

Remember this project?

I wanted to do a follow up so everyone could see how they ended up at the wedding. It's hard to believe that was so long ago; it feels like just yesterday!

I wanted to use eleven giant paper flowers to arrange on the arch for my ceremony, the only reason for that is I had heard that odd numbers are better for decorating. And I always do as I am told. :) However only 10 actually fit on the arch; math apparently is no longer my strong suit.

Since the ceremony took place in a rose garden, I wanted to make sure that the flowers didn't upstage the natural beauty that was already all around us! I chose creamy white flowers with pops of green for the leaves. I think they ended up look like magnolia flowers.  :)

This is how I "MacGyvered" them to twist on to the arch. I picked this picture so you could see the back of the flowers and how they worked.

The wooden craft sticks mentioned above are the ones that you can find at any craft store. 

I loved the results! It definitely made the ceremony space special and unique for us. It was a relatively easy project for a big result!

Movie Review - Nebraska

While we were in Portland during our honeymoon, somehow, we were able to sneak in a movie. I am not sure when but it happened.

The movie we saw was called Nebraska. Oh my goodness, I just loved this movie. It is all in black and white and is just so artistic and beautifully shot.

I saw this movie quite a while ago so I am going to do my best to retell it however I am sure I am going to make many mistakes. The story line focuses around an older man who is experiencing some forms of dementia and alcohol issues. He receives a Publisher's Clearing House scam letter in the mail telling him that he has won one million dollars. This whole movie revolves around the man and his son's adventures traveling to go claim his supposed prize.

I found it to have a sweet and sentimental message hidden throughout all of sarcastic wit and dry humor. I really enjoyed it and the mom in the movie is a real scene stealer, haha, I still laugh thinking of some of the things that she does.

Go see it or rent it, you won't regret it!

Honeymoon - Portland Day 7

Our last day of our honeymoon was so bittersweet! We had such a wonderful time; it was so sad to know that it was coming to a close. At the same time though, I was kind of excited to come home and start playing wife with my new husband in our home.

Here came Black Friday! Portland does something pretty cool and does something called Little Boxes. This encourages people to shop in local stores instead of cramming into nationwide stores. This was perfect timing because we were able to find out where all of the local shops were located and also, ummmm, go shopping because it's my favorite. Oh my, I bought so many beautiful hand crafted goodies, it was wondrous.

Here are just a few glimpses of our last day.  I didn't take too many pictures this last day; we were just too busy!

I can't wait to go back again! The best part was spending that one on one time with George after the craziness of our wedding. I love that I can document this on my blog so that I can see and remember the good times any time I want. :)

Honeymoon - Portland Day 6

This day took place on Thanksgiving day! While everyone woke up early to get started cooking, cleaning, and stressing about dried out turkey breasts, this is how I started out my morning...

What an incredible day to visit a new city! Truth be told, I was really sad that we weren't with either of our families, but because everyone else was with their families warm in their homes, we felt like the city was ours! It felt like it was literally us and the homeless people. We took a stroll around town and took in the absolute beauty that is Portland. We just fell in love...

Because it was Thanksgiving, there wasn't exactly a plethora of stores/restaurants open. Luckily after walking for a really long time we finally spied a pizza place that was open! Hallelujiah! We could eat vegan pizza and drink coca cola in glass bottles until our hearts' content. Next door, Powell's Bookstore was there in its huge and gleaming glory open to the public.  This is the biggest bookstore that I have ever been too; floors upon floors of books, gifts, stationary, and everything and anything Portland themed. It's a must see!

Thankfully we were able to find a place open for Thanksgiving dinner thanks to our fancy schmancy hotel's concierge. It was called The Original - it was really fun, it was like an amped up TV dinner from the 50's. It made my little heart skip a beat because I don't like my food to touch and separated out dishes kind of make me a little giddy. Don't ask.

Our honeymoon was quickly coming to a close, back to reality soon. One more full day in Portland and then on our way back to Phoenix. :(  Stay tuned for the details from our last full honeymoon day!

Honeymoon - Still on the Road Day 5

Yowza, do you know how long it takes to get from San Francisco to Portland? It's a haul! Mind you, I am probably the world's worst trip planner so I made this a lot more difficult for us than it needed to be. Also to justify our lengthened road trip, remember, I make George stop the car a lot for my picture habit. :) We left from Crescent City, CA and started our journey into Oregon. The second we entered Oregon, I fell in love. Do any of you live there? I am completely obsessed and want to go back over and over again. We stopped along the way in Eugene, Oregon to pick up some Voodoo Donuts because you just have to and then got stuck in some miserable traffic. See more about that below.

OK so around this place (somewhere in between Eugene and Portland), we got stuck. And by stuck, I mean monstrous traffic. Like we didn't move for hours. 

So now things are about to get a little weird... To pass the time we decided to participate in a little Zoolander modeling game. To be honest, we were a little loopy from being cooped up in the car for so long. Don't judge us. I wasn't thinking of adding these in, but they are just little gems that I couldn't help but add in. :)

Finally we got into Portland that night, crashed at our hotel, and waited to the sun to rise for our new adventures. :)

Honeymoon - On the Road Day 4

We woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed ready to start our travels on Day 4 of our honeymoon. First things first, we are breakfast at Craftsman and Wolves in the Mission District in San Francisco. It was totally out of our way, but completely delicious and worth the trip. Somehow they managed to perfectly cook a soft boiled egg in a muffin, I have no idea how they do it! Little muffin magicians!
We scrambled into our rental car and headed off - oops not too far though! George got into a little fender bender on his way out of the parking garage! Haha! Good thing for rental car insurance. We drove up the coastal highway and encountered absolutely beautiful scenery. It was breathtaking! Even the fog was pretty... ridiculous. I made George pull over I don't even know how many times, but he was a good sport about it. I even make him drive through a giant tree and he didn't complain once about the ridiculous tourist trap that I put him through.
Even though this day was packed with driving pretty much all day we had so much fun just being together.
